Dr. Mark Skousen
Macroeconomic Strategist
Dr. Mark Skousen is one of America’s most respected economists and investment strategists, with more than four decades of experience analyzing global markets, economic policy, and long-term wealth trends.
Widely known as “America’s Economist,” he has extensive experience in the government (through his work with the CIA), nonprofits (as president of the Foundation for Economic Education), and for-profit corporations (as a publisher, producer, and consultant to major corporations such as IBM).
Dr. Skousen received his Ph.D. from George Washington University and has taught at major colleges and universities, including Columbia Business School and Columbia University. He is currently a presidential fellow at Chapman University, where he holds the Doti-Spogli Chair of Free Enterprise. He has written numerous academic papers and has served as a columnist for Forbes magazine and a contributor to The Wall Street Journal. He has appeared frequently on CNBC, C-SPAN, and other media outlets.
As an outspoken advocate of free-market Austrian economics, Dr. Skousen has advised and educated investors through every major economic cycle since the early 1980s – including inflationary shocks, market crashes, recessions, booms, bubbles, and geopolitical crises.
He is best known as the longtime editor of the award-winning Forecasts & Strategies newsletter, which he founded in 1980 and published continuously for 45 years. During that time, he successfully guided tens of thousands of readers using a disciplined, high-gain, low-risk approach designed to protect capital first – and grow it intelligently over time.
Besides his work in publishing, he has run several successful conferences around the world. He is best known as the founder of FreedomFest, the world’s largest gathering of free-market thinkers, and the author of several influential books on economics and investing, including The Making of Modern Economics and The Maxims of Wall Street.
Dr. Skousen and his wife, Jo Ann, have enjoyed a long-term partnership in marriage and business, and have five children and eight grandchildren. Jo Ann has served as co-editor and co-author of newsletters, editorials, and books – and together they’ve lived and traveled all over the world.
Today, Dr. Skousen serves as Macroeconomic Strategist for The Oxford Club, where he brings his lifetime of experience to Members seeking clarity, capital protection, and opportunity in an increasingly uncertain world.
